Dadurday #8: Jays Game with the Boys
This week marks the first Dadurday your Mom and I have spent apart, as she went to Buffalo for the weekend with a couple friends (one of whom, Kim, is also pregnant and due in January). The primary reason given for the trip was to do some shopping, but the numerous treats your Mom came home with — S’More M&Ms, Cinnamon Bun Oreos, various cake mixes, and a meal from the Olive Garden — would seem to indicate that they also wanted to enjoy some of the tasty, oversized indulgences only America has to offer. (If you’re going to do it, I suppose there’s no better time than when you’re eating for two.)
As a result, the week’s video doesn’t include your Mom, and the picture was taken once she returned at the end of the weekend.
On Monday, we will be at the 23-week mark, and you’ve now grown to the size of a grapefruit. According to our favourite app, The Bump, your “face is fully formed now…[and] just needs a little extra fat to fill out.” Also, you’re forming nipples. Exciting times!
This week’s video was admittedly taken on the Friday night, but for pretty good reason. One of my good childhood friends, Pat McGinn, was visiting for the night, and he, David Semple and I went to a Toronto Blue Jays game (and then out for a couple soda pops). I knew my Saturday wouldn’t be nearly as exciting, so it seemed like the right thing to do, and ultimately it was. If I’d waited until Saturday, there would have been three options for the video: a shot of me sleeping, a shot of me eating Sancocho, or a shot of me watching baseball on TV. That was the extent of my day.
Unfortunately, my days of recovering from a late night out with a couple coffees are over, though perhaps I should consider this training: I suspect you’ll have a few of these nights in store for me soon.
