Dadurday #14: Shower Season

By on November 5, 2016

I’m not sure how you do it, but somehow, despite the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series for the first time in over a century (!!!), you remain the headliner. This weekend marks the first of the baby showers — this one for family, next weekend for friends — and suffice it to say, you’re going to be one well dressed baby. Hopefully Mom considers getting Dad a few matching items for his birthday/Christmas (I would basically wear the adult version of anything you got).

If I have one gripe, it’s that you only got Blue Jays stuff, which is something I’ll soon be remedying (I just Googled “Chicago Cubs Baby,” and my head almost exploded — I can get you Christmas gifts while you’re still in utero, right?)

As for you, your Mom’s ever-expanding belly is pretty good evidence that you’re growing in there, apparently now the size of an acorn squash — which, interestingly enough, I just made a soup out of the other day (is that weird?). According to our app, this is around the time when you get a little cramped, and begin to “plump up.” We also suspect you’ve begun to hiccup, as there are these fairly regular twitches going on — I suppose the being held upside down trick isn’t too effective.

This week’s video was taken by Aunt Danielle and BB at the family shower (I only came at the end to say hi to everyone and eat all the leftover food), and I think they did a pretty awesome job — you get a really good look at the gifts, the people (including your Mom, who’s telling her favourite pregnancy joke), and Grammy and Grandpa’s house! I suspect it won’t be too different from the house you’re familiar with, but you never know; Grandpa is retired now, and he does love his projects.
